NamasteWelcome to my site for the Marines that guard our property and staff at the Embassy in Kathmandu Nepal. We don’t have a real large detachment in Kathmandu, but they do a big job. I was in Nepal from 1976 until 1978. I think I had the best time of my life while living there. If you have pictures or stories dealing with the Marines stationed in Nepal, send them to me. You may One thing I would like to make clear to all that are not associated with Marine Guards is their mission. Marines are not at the embassy to fight for the embassy. Please read the mission statement and remember the guard on duty is considered expendable. We all accept that and do the job to the best of our ability. The MissionThe Marine Security Guards primary mission is to provide internal security services at designated U.S. Diplomatic and Consular facilities to prevent the compromise of classified information and equipment vital to the national security of the United States of America. The secondary mission of Marine Security Guards is to provide protection for U.S. citizens and U.S. Government property located within designated U.S. Diplomatic and Consular premises during exigent circumstances which require immediate aid or action.
